The importance of talent management and developing tomorrow’s leaders is vital for the future health and wellbeing of organisations and their people. Research indicates that emerging leaders supported and challenged by their organisation stay longer and climb higher faster, providing a direct return on investment for the organisation.

Designed specifically for groups of individuals from the same organisation, this programme focuses on developing their leadership capability and enabling them to cope in the rapidly changing and uncertain situations of today’s business climate.

A flexible framework is used to design the content, and an
example outline is shown below:

Preparation

  • Key stakeholders are consulted and briefed
  • Learning objectives are agreed
  • Programme is dovetailed with other learning and
    development activity
  • Participants are recruited and briefed
  • Evaluation strategy is agreed

Launch

  • Participants develop leadership skills in an experiential
    residential context at The Leadership Trust’s centre, near
    Ross-on-Wye
  • The intervention builds the group as a mutually
    supportive network

Work-based learning

  • Key learning is taken and applied in the workplace
  • Opportunities to practise leadership skills are provided
  • Learning is supported by senior and line managers
  • Peer support is provided through the learning network
